Application 1. Eligibility Requirements:
a. The applicant must be a high school student who will complete his or her high school education during the 2009-2010 school year.br>
b. Applicants must be planning to continue their education at an accredited college or university or vocational program within the upcoming school year
(August 2010-June 2011).
c. This scholarship is open to any graduating Yokota High School student, or any graduating high school student in the Yokota community, who is a dependent of an active duty military member (all services), or the dependent of a SOFA sponsored employee based at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
d. The applicant must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
2. Criteria for Selection:
a. Applicants will be judged on essays, scholastic achievement and extracurricular activities, to include community service.
b. The above three areas for each applicant will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges who are not members of the Yokota Officers’ Spouses’ Club or parents of High School graduating seniors.
c. Applicants remain anonymous during the application process. All personal information, including name, address, and social security number will be removed from the applications prior to judging.
d. Please be aware that not all applications will automatically be awarded
scholarship money. The number of scholarships awarded and the amounts of
each scholarship award will be determined by the YOSC Scholarship Committee,
based on the funds available for the year and the merit of the applications.
3. Limitations:
a. The Yokota Officers’ Spouses’ Club Scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year college or university, vocational school, community or junior college. It will be used to defray the cost of tuition and university sponsored room and board. It may not be used to defray the cost of books, fees, computer costs or other accessory expenses.
b. The applicant will not be eligible to receive this award if at any time he or she accepts an appointment to any military service academy, or accepts any other full four-year scholarship. (Note: Full scholarship is defined as covering tuition and room and board. If a student receives a full tuition award but is still responsible for room and board, then he or she is eligible for the Yokota Officers’ Spouses’ Club Scholarship.)
d. Winners will be asked to submit a copy of their acceptance letter when they
attend the Scholarships luncheon, to be held on May 25, 2010. This letter must be
in the hands of the Committee Chair no later than May 25, 2010. Winners
will also be asked to provide payment instructions, to include the address
of the Finance Office of the University.
e. If the scholarship recipient fails to attend the fall term
following high school graduation, he or she must immediately notify the Scholastic Awards Chairperson.
f. The recipient of the scholarship agrees to remain in school for at least one academic year. In the event the student leaves school before the end of the full year, the Scholastic Awards Chairperson must be notified and any remaining amount of the scholarship forfeited.
g. All award money must be applied by May 30, 2011.
4. Application Instructions:
a. Applications must be typed and double-spaced. Please use the format provided. Submit only one copy of page 1; but submit an original and 3 copies of the essays and extracurricular activities sheets. Submit only one transcript. Do not submit letters of recommendation or acceptance letters.
b. Follow all instructions carefully and meet all deadlines. Not following instructions or not meeting deadlines will disqualify the applicant's packet from consideration.
c. The student and the student's sponsor must each sign the completed application.
d. All applications must be mailed. They must be post marked no later than
March 31, 2010.

5. Hints and Tips
a. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully.
b. Meet all stated deadlines, and have all necessary signatures.
c. Not following instructions or not meeting
deadlines will result in disqualification of the application packet.
d Have someone read your essays to catch any problems with clarity,
grammar, etc.
e. Have someone review your entire application packet to make sure
all instructions have been followed and all necessary items are included.
f. Be sure to make a copy of your entire application packet to keep for yourself.

Application 1. Eligibility Requirements:
a. The applicant must be the spouse of an active duty military member (any service) or the spouse of a SOFA sponsored employee based at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
b. The applicant must have completed at least SIX (6) semester hours toward the declared degree. The applicant must clearly state the type of degree on the application. (i.e., Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate degree)
c. The applicant must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the two most recent semesters of college attendance.
2. Criteria for Selection:
a. Applicants will be judged on two essays and grade point average.
b. The essays will be judged by an independent panel of judges who are not members of the Yokota Officers' Spouses' Club.
c. Applicants will remain anonymous during the application process. All personal information - including name, address, and social security number - will be removed from the applications prior to judging.
d. Transcripts and grade reports pertaining to the current degree being sought must be provided. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification. Internet transcripts are acceptable. (Note: Please do not provide transcripts pertaining to unrelated or previously completed degree programs.)
3. Limitations:
a. The Yokota Officers' Spouses' Club Scholarship may be used at any accredited college, university, or vocational program.
b. The applicant will not be eligible to receive this award if at any time he or she accepts any other full four-year scholarship.
c. Scholarships are not available to Scholastic Awards Committee members.
d. Award money will be mailed to the recipient?s college in the form of a check payable to the school.
e. At the Awards Luncheon, which will be held on May 25,2010, Scholarship winners will be asked to sign an acceptance form, and must also provide payment instructions pertinent to the particular receiving institution.
f. If the scholarship recipient fails to enroll in classes by the fall term, he or she must immediately notify the Scholastic Awards Chairperson.
g. All award money must be applied by May 30, 2011
4. Application Instructions:
a. Applications must be typed. Please use the format provided, and submit an
original plus 3 copies (for a total of 4) of the essays. Only 1 transcript needs to be
submitted.
b. All applications must be mailed and Postmarked no later than March 31, 2010
